Nothing new.

Events and Programming (Laurie K, and Susan H)

  • The January meeting will focus on sewing with cork fabric. If you have made items with cork, please bring them in.

  • The February meeting will be our annual Yard Sale. If the meeting needs to be cancelled due to bad weather, the Yard Sale will be in March.

Communications (Brenda and Susie)

  • Our QuiltCon 2025 Community Outreach challenge quilt: “Modern Strata.” Brenda pieced the books together and delivered the quilt top to Suzie for quilting.

  • The Modern Quilt Guild has a new pattern “Floating Squares” and posts about minimalism.

  • Brenda asked members present who have not yet had their pictures taken for the Guild Directory to see her so she could take pictures.

Charity (Leslie, Carol K, and Julie)

  • We donated 66 quilts in 2023. So far this year, we have donated over 50 quilts. More are being finished this month. One of those in process is a sampler quilt made with blocks members made using the Kona Crush 2023 Color of the Year.

  • Our main charity, Sleep in Heavenly Peace, has requested twin size quilts, approximately 60 x 90, with matching pillowcases. They also would appreciate some throw-sized quilts.

Retreats (Ophelia)

  • Our Spring 2025 retreat will be April 3-6 at the Franciscan Guest House in Kennebunkport, ME. They will be closing indefinitely later in April for major renovations, so we wanted to be sure to get that last available time slot.

  • Our Fall 2025 Retreat will be Nov 13-16 at the St. Methodios Center in Contoocook, NH.

SHOW AND TELL

Lori Breen told us that the 100+ Women who Care, Southern NH fund-raising group selected Sleep in Heavenly Peace as their 2024 end-of-year charity.

1.       Carol K showed three quilts. First, a 3-yard quilt (using the Allure pattern from The Magic of 3 Yard Quilts book by Donna Robertson and Fran Morgan) that Robin made, and Ophelia quilted, for Sleep in Heavenly Peace.

2.       Then, a baby quilt featuring appliqued ocean creatures.

3.       Last, a Nine Sisters quilt.

4.       Robin showed us two quilts. First, a quilt from the Christmas Trees free tutorial by Amy Smart.

5.       And a star quilt.

6.       Raya showed us some small patchwork pieces she made following Tara Faughnan’s Block Studies.

7.       And a no points star quilt (a free pattern!) she started at our fall retreat.

8.       Michelle C showed us a quilt she made from her new pattern, Ornament Collection.

9.       She also showed us an original hearts-themed quilt she made for the Windham Ruby+Bee 2025 Fabric Challenge for QuiltCon 2025.

10.   Ophelia showed us five new quilts. A trees quilt, made from the same pattern used by Robin.

11.   An Hello Spring quilt, from the pattern by Pen and Paper Patterns.

12.   A Pigs quilt, made from enlarged pig blocks from Elizabeth Hartman’s Fab Farm pattern.

13.   Her second Wayfinder quilt, pattern from Eudaimonia Studio

14.   And lastly, a No Point Stars quilt, a free pattern from Cluck Cluck Sew.

15.   Suzanne P showed us a baby quilt with appliqued elephants. Beth L helped her with applique during our last retreat.

16.   Cecelia showed a quilt made using the Kawandi style.

17.   Michelle M showed us a quilt she made for her father-in-law using many retro images fabrics and a lot of fussy cutting.

18.   Simone showed us her Everyday bag she made from a Noodlehead pattern. She made the bag at a sewing retreat of the American Sewing Guild, which she recently joined.

19.   Gail showed us an intricate curved piece she made in the on-demand Curves and Transparencies class from Carolina Oneto.

20.   And some small blocks made in the Tara Faughnan Block Studies Collective.

21.   Susie made the Iconic 2 quilt from Lella Boutique.

22.   And her quilt made from Michelle C’s Ornament pattern.

23.   Marie showed us some bags she made with cork on the bottom.

24.   And a log cabin quilt.

25.   Brenda showed us a size-altered Sentimental Stars quilt (free pattern from Amy Smart) made with scrappy Liberty of London fabrics from Riley Blake.

Thank you so much for telling us the names of the quilts and pattern designers for your masterpieces. It makes it easy to compile these Show & Tell notes and serves as a great resource for all of us!

Please note that when we were adding links to raffle prizes and quilt patterns and books, we tried to link them directly to the pattern or book designers’ web pages, but sometimes we couldn’t find the original sources and put links to popular online commerce sites that carry these products. We are not endorsing any particular commerce sites – most items can be found from multiple sources.

Our guild email address is: nhmodernquilt@gmail.com.

See you next month!
