October 2019 Show & Tell

Leslie's latest finish is a quilt with "O"s in Ohio State colors. Ophelia then quilted it for her with "Ohio State."  Very nice gift for her oldest grandson who lives in Ohio.

Pattie showed off wallets she made, one in purple vinyl, next in cork, which is easier to work, and the last is vegetarian leather!

Ophelia's take on inspiration from Missouri Star quilts, using charm packs in her stash.  Went together quickly.

Ophelia showed us this "Painted Ladies" quilt of houses.  Used her Mom's rick-rack to decorate. Quilted in a light lemon yellow, adds a little color, courtesy of Angela Walters recommendation.  Is on both the bobbin and top thread.  Ophelia also made up the rick-rack quilt design on her long-arm. Pattern is at https://eyecandyquilts.com/painted-ladies

Ophelia's next was one she was preparing for retreat, but after she did a sample and mirror image, she finished it before retreat. It is the Jaybird quilt pattern "Three in a Box" -- http://www.jaybirdquilts.com/search?q=three+in+a+box  Ophelia said it went together quickly!

In the next quilt, Ophelia put blocks that Leslie gave her together and quilted it.  Pattern is "Fractured" Kathy Doughty in one of her first quilt books.  For other interpretations see this Pinterest page - https://www.pinterest.com/pin/447897125411882693/?lp=true

Lorie showed us the front and back of her finish, fabric from Mardens, backing shows off the quilting.  This is her "picnic" quilt, quilted with squares and circles using a free pattern with leftover fabrics she had.  Very fun!

Lorie also showed us her black and white Urban Nine Patch -- pattern at Sew Kind of Wonderful here  https://sewkindofwonderful.com/products/urban-nine-patch-paper-pattern?variant=804668063 .  The quilting was specifically designed for the pattern, but the difficulty was that the melon shapes on the edges of the squares are all slightly different. Dramatic design!

Robin shared with us her tied dye diamond quilt.  Super colorful!

Suzie showed a colorful finish with O shaped blocks.  The pops of red are great!

The front and back of Suzie's very cute fox quilt from the Sew Fresh Quilts "Fox Among the Birches" pattern -- https://sewfreshquilts.blogspot.com/2017/07/fox-among-birches-in-grey.html  .  Love the backing fabric!

Suzie's third quilt is this lovely gradated pink design with a much less subdued backing fabric!
