May's Jam Packed Meeting

May's meeting was jam packed, many things were accomplished.

Patty demonstrated how to make Hexi's out of a circle and everyone was able to give it a try.

Let's see those Hexi's...

You've got it ladies

Hmmm...

That was pretty easy

This is kinda fun

Almost there!

 DONE!

Marie demonstrated May's BOM, the Disappearing Hourglass. If you haven't tried any of the BOM's, this is a good one to try. It's fairly simple and there are many ways to put it together.

Nancy's interpretation of one of the previous BOM's.

Just a reminder old BOM are listed as a page above if you missed any!

Recap on Sherri Lynne Wood Workshop

If you missed Saturday's workshop with Sherri Lynn Wood, you missed a good one. Sherri was a great instructor and offered us so much in terms of curves, improv, and creativity. We spent the day saying "whoopee" as we continually made mistakes. Sherri encouraged us to get messy and work through our "oops." It was great to discover there are so many ways to fix a mistake! Right, who knew. Our wall of awesome at mid-day ...

End of day results .... Sherri also spent time talking about composition and how to put all these petals together. Once again, there is more than one way to piece improv, appliquĂ©, sewn in, and squared off. The whole idea was very overwhelming at first. They are after all curves! She helped us each individually as our design ideas and inspirations were different.

All our bias strips ready to be sewn into a masterpiece. Below, Sherri is re-capping with us at the end of day. It was nice to reflect at the end of the day and hear everyone share about their experiences.

All in all, it was a beautiful Saturday. We had fun and learned a lot. If you are super jealous with envy right now you can purchase Sherri's new book The Improv Handbook for Modern Quilting. Hopefully people will have some progress to share at the next meeting!
